According to the recently released World’s Best Cities Report by Resonance, Dubai has earned a prestigious place among the world’s top 10 cities for livability, lovability, and prosperity. The report rates Dubai as a superior city for living, working, and prospering when compared to several prominent global cities, including San Francisco, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Washington, Istanbul, Vienna, Toronto, Boston, Melbourne, Zurich, Sydney, and many others.
Cities in ranking
London secured the top spot in the rankings, followed by Paris, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, San Francisco, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Seoul.
The report evaluates cities under key indexes, including livability, lovability, and prosperity. Sub-index criteria encompass the city’s walkability, landmarks and attractions, recreational spaces, airport connectivity, cultural institutions, nightlife, dining options, shopping facilities, educational opportunities, human capital, presence of Fortune 500 Global Companies, startup culture, and more.
Reputation
Dubai’s reputation for extravagant developments, such as the Palm Jumeirah and the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, has propelled the city into the international spotlight. The report acknowledges Dubai’s penchant for breaking world records, whether for having the tallest, longest, fastest, or largest. Notably, Dubai ranks 8th in the Attractions subcategory, thanks to its array of endless malls, aquariums, indoor ski parks, dazzling fountains, fantasy theme parks, and Disney-inspired water playgrounds celebrating Hollywood, Bollywood, Marvel, and Lego themes, along with numerous family-friendly resorts.
Among cities in the Arab world, Abu Dhabi secures the second position globally, ranking 25th overall. Other regional cities included in the report are Riyadh (28), Doha (36), Kuwait (58), and Muscat (89).
As cities worldwide emerge from the pandemic, lessons learned during lockdowns and a renewed focus on outdoor spaces have reshaped what people seek in a place to live, work, or play.
